		<description>&#60;img src="http://payload15.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/2614515/PLENTY-HEADER.jpg" border="0" width="648" height="288" width_o="648" height_o="288" src_o="http://payload15.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/2614515/PLENTY-HEADER_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

In 2009 I drank 99 beers and wrote about each one.

Plenty in the Land of Want

The reason:

'I've been torn this season. Thinking about the phrase "Live simply so that others may simply live." I've realized that while I think about this and spout it out and try it on and mull it over it isn't what I'm doing.

Take Christmas. I've been drinking Eggnog. And drinking Christmas tea. And eating cookies. And then what would Christmas be without turkey and ham and three casseroles and Christmas cocktails - the kind the wisemen drank I'm sure - and a tree and a natural wreath and light and a new Christmas CD and a tree skirt and and and.

All these things are just automatics. I can have them all, so naturally, I do.

I'm not loaded. I'm well off at this point. Especially just because I am an American. I have money and a savings account and a 401(k) and the ability to pay my heat bill and a house full of everything I could ever need. Not want. But need.

I've realized that I can have most anything when I want it in any quantity that I want it.

Which is why I must stop.

Or at least slow. I need to gain perspective. I need to spend more time with people. I need to live with less (on a lot of levels). I need to focus. I need a resolution this New Year that will bring a little introspection and a lot of sacrifice.

I'm going to have 99 bottles of beer this year.

I know, I know. This isn't really a sacrifice of anything. You are thinking that I am lame and that I'm a coward and that my New Year's resolution is full of crap and is boring and you know what? Stop reading now. Yeah. Just leave. Don't care. I mean, I'll miss you, but I will catch you in 2010.

My thought is that, when you put limits on something, it becomes a lot more thoughtful. There is something in knowing that your days are limited. That you have precisely 31 more times to wake up. Or 15 more showers to take. Each one is a little more intentional. Which is what I want to do with this experiment.

It isn't about the beer so much as the company. Maybe this weekend will be a blast and I will have 25 beers. And then realize that while that was fun, I've used up a quarter of my allocation for the year. And there better be an interesting tale. Or maybe I will have a beer each week with an old friend and just talk. Spend some time with a stranger. Buy him a beer. Sit down and chat with my wife over a Sam's Light. Or just go watch the sun set by myself. With one of my ninety nine. I don't know.

All I know is that I am going to chronicle this whole adventure. This whole year of having a bit less. Not quitting. Not throwing in the towel. Just being aware.

Cheers to 2009.'

Various bits of web collateral for Ram projects. I worked on the design of each and every bit of these, trying to tie them into the broader campaign direction coming out of Ram's lead agency.

We built a new website for Ram, and we needed some content for it. But rather than make something contrived and fake, we went to the place where trucks flow like wine: Texas.

We set up shop for a month and found some amazing folks and made some magic and proved not just to consumers, but to ourselves, that Ram drivers are the real deal.

Check all ten films out at Ram Proven.
Awarded MITX.

We also built a custom player with some timed bullet points and additional content to bring the story home.

Worked on the launch of the XC4 series for Johnston &#38; Murphy.

During that process, I pitched the idea of a Shoe Shine Application. Because there is nothing a gentleman needs more than a nearby shine when he scuffs the wingtips.

I left before the App launched, so I can't take credit for the execution – that was left in the capable hands of Glennedy.

But it's always nice to see an idea you sold come to life.

We were tasked with reskining the Dodge.com site to match the current television campaign, the new brand standards, the new direction that Dodge was moving.

The previous site had been designed piecemeal over the last several years, and bits like navigation and global footers were all wonky.

Also, there were bits we could and couldn't touch. For the most part (85%), it was a file for file swap. So here's what I came up with to address the challenge.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0001_Journey_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0001_Journey_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0003_Nitro ST_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0003_Nitro ST_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0004_Caliber ST_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0004_Caliber ST_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0008_Promo Tile Rollover_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0008_Promo Tile Rollover_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0009_Charger Rollover_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/1_Home_0009_Charger Rollover_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/2_Product_0000_Black Car_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/2_Product_0000_Black Car_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62; &#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/2_Product_0004_Caravan_905.jpg" border="0" width="700" height="700" width_o="700" height_o="700" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/714809/2_Product_0004_Caravan_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

Skyhook Wireless is the location software in every iPhone. They get over 300M data requests a day. Anything you use with your phone and location is more than likely filtered through Skyhook.

They needed a revamp. Their logo and site hadn't been touched since '04, and that design was 'a favor done by one of the guy's girlfriends.'

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/597681/Reskin_0000_1.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="576" width_o="670" height_o="576" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/25046/597681/Reskin_0000_1_o.jpg" align="left" /&#62;

I worked extensively with Skyhook to give them a new logo, a reskin and a color palette that would bring them up to date and make them look all hot.

In the process, helped them come out with a Spotrank page during their rebranding launch.

The page employed a real time heatmap pulling in social media feeds which were aggregating all the chatter about the CMA awards in Nashville.

This was just a simple visualization putting a face on some of the 300M data hits Skyhook gets daily.

90% of lung cancer comes from Big Tobacco’s products, so in the Summer of 2009 we petitioned to rename it Big Tobacco Disease (BTD).

We collected over 90,000 signatures of like-minded kids through online tools and widgets, and by letting kids sign our "BTD petition t-shirts" at the Vans Warped Tour, among others. And while the medical profession may not recognize the term "Big Tobacco Disease", those 90,000 kids do.

Awarded Communication Arts Annual.

Vans 15th Anniversary/Lightwrite

The signature collection ended at the Vans tour finale, again in LA, where we gave kids the chance to sign the BTD petition in light, using some proprietary technology developed in the Arnold R&#38;D Lab. We also made it available as a download on thetruth.com. Kids love getting free stuff as much as we love giving it.

Johnston &#38; Murphy is one of our clients and they have been making shoes for the Commander in Chief for the past hundred and fifty odd years. And since I'm the designer for J&#38;M, I'm the defacto designer for the Obama kicks.

I had the opportunity to design the shoes for our President. Not the shoes per say, but the trade dress for them: the markings on the insole and the out sole.

The second row, second from right is the one that made it onto the bottom.
